Oh Festive Tree...

Poor Christmas Trees. For one month we dress them beautifully in tinsel, baubles, trinkets and lights. We oooh and aaah over them. We pile gifts under them. Take photos of them. Make them the centrepiece of special family memories.
Then we casually stuff them into a box and shove the into the ceiling void. Forgotten. Possibly to be nibbled at by rats. For eleven months. What a punch in the trunk for this symbol of peace and goodwill!

Well, not our Christmas Tree. Not this year.
This year I'm leaving our tree where it is.* And renaming it. In 2015 it shall be know as the 'Festive Tree'.
New decorations will be added for each upcoming festive occasion.
First up, New Year streamers and poppers, followed perhaps by Australian flags and a carefully placed thong or two for Australia Day. Hearts for Valentine's Day. Painted eggs for Easter. You get the drift.

* For those that know me, yes, this is laziness, parading as creativity!

I took down some of the Christmas decos, Julie, the star, tinsels and assorted baubles. But it looked too bare with nothing so left the balls on.
